Esta foto es con mucho mi favorito de nuestro viaje a España. Acabamos de embarcar el tren hacia Portugal y yo solamente tenía un poquito de tiempo a sacarla antes que salía el tren, y también antes que alguien entraba dentro de la foto. Obviamente ellos no están posados, y creo que la familia aquí están muy bien representados.
Muchísimas gracias a vosotros, Carlos y Loreto, por su generosidad y hospitalidad interminable. Era un placer enorme a conocer los niños y esperamos que os veremos un día muy pronto. ¡Un abrazo fuerte!

This photo, by far, is my favorite one from our trip to Spain. We had just boarded the train to head south to Portugal and I had only a small window of time to snap this shot before the train pulled away, and also before anyone else got in the photo. It's also obviously not posed and the family is captured here in their element.
Many thanks to you, Carlos and Loreto, for your unending hospitality and generosity. It was amazing to meet the children and we hope to see you again really soon.

This is part of an evolving photo-project, which will probably continue throughout the summer of 2008, and perhaps beyond: a random collection of "interesting" people in a broad stretch of the Upper West Side of Manhattan -- between 72nd Street and 104th Street, especially along Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue.
I don't like to intrude on people's privacy, so I normally use a telephoto lens in order to photograph them while they're still 50-100 feet away from me; but that means I have to continue focusing my attention on the people and activities half a block away, rather than on what's right in front of me.
I've also learned that, in many cases, the opportunities for an interesting picture are very fleeting -- literally a matter of a couple of seconds, before the person(s) in question move on, turn away, or stop doing whatever was interesting. So I've learned to keep the camera switched on (which contradicts my traditional urge to conserve battery power), and not worry so much about zooming in for a perfectly-framed picture ... after all, once the digital image is uploaded to my computer, it's pretty trivial to crop out the parts unrelated to the main subject.
For the most part, I've deliberately avoided photographing bums, drunks, drunks, and crazy people. There are a few of them around, and they would certainly create some dramatic pictures; but they generally don't want to be photographed, and I don't want to feel like I'm taking advantage of them. I'm still looking for opportunities to take some "sympathetic" pictures of such people, which might inspire others to reach out and help them. We'll see how it goes ...
The only other thing I've noticed, thus far, is that while there are lots of interesting people to photograph, there are far, far, *far* more people who are *not* so interesting. They're probably fine people, and they might even be more interesting than the ones I've photographed ... but there was just nothing memorable about them.

Kava Kava位于英国约克郡的哈德斯菲尔德。乐队由歌手Pat Fulgoni创立，最初是一个四人现场芬克摇滚乐队。主要成员为身兼歌手、键盘手、号手三职的Pat Fulgoni，贝斯手及电子合成Jason Riley以及吉他手Matt Bond.
他们从地下音乐节开始，发展到签了若干独立唱片合同。英国杂志New Musical Express评价Kava Kava为“华美的新迷幻芬克”，他们还在NME CLUB GUIDE CHART中名列第一。
最近几年，Kava Kava扩展为六人组合，并通过歌手Pat Fulgoni名下的独立厂牌Chocolate Fireguard Records推出唱片MAUI。该厂牌旗下还拥有若干独立艺术家。他们希望开拓中国市场。
Kava Kava是非常有经验的现场乐队。他们为BBC电台Raw Talent制作的现场音乐会被听众评为“年度最佳Raw Talent演唱会”。他们曾在美国及欧洲的夜总会及音乐节上表演。2006年他们被邀作为特别嘉宾参加Global Battle of the Bands Finals 2006。2007年他们将参与北京迷笛音乐节，美国奥斯汀SXSW音乐节和英国Glastonbury音乐节。

Pat Fulgoni也拥有自己的厂牌Chocolate Fireguard Records。乐队包括女性Punk Rock乐队“Mary-Jane”，法国Hip Hop乐队“La Cedille”，Trip Hop乐队“The Bluefoot Project”，脏外套“Practical Headz”以及不同音乐家的选集。
